Tooele County is currently accepting applications to promote a Corrections Deputy within the Tooele County Sheriff's Department to a Corrections Deputy Sergeant.
IN HOUSE ONLY GENERAL PURPOSE Supervise deputies assigned to their crews ensuring that proper operation of the Detention Center occurs, and policy and procedures are followed.
Also, to maintain the security of the Tooele County Detention Center, maintain order and ensure prisoner welfare as outlined in the Tooele County Detention Center Policy and Procedure Manual.
POSITION DUTIES:
Performs a variety of technical, professional and first-line supervisory law enforcement duties.
Maintain the security of the Tooele County Detention Center, maintain order and ensure prisoner welfare as outlined in the Tooele County Detention Center Policy and Procedure Manual.
Exercises supervision over lower ranking deputies assigned; coordinates activities and assists in performance of their duties; observes and evaluates work performance by subordinate deputies; ensures compliance with established policies and procedures; provides policy interpretations and judgments to subordinate deputies; delivers and implements managerial directives and communicates subordinate concerns to management; follows up on complaints involving shift deputies; reports any insubordination or misconduct to management.
Acts as shift supervisor.
Ensures Detention Center Policy and Procedures are followed in operating the facility and treatment of the inmates.
Maintain security in inmate housing, booking and lobby areas; inspect cells, housing and booking areas for security and prisoner welfare; check detention center parameter; operate electronic doors, operate intercom system, inspect detention facilities, search, and control contraband.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Certified as a Corrections Deputy as defined by Utah State Law; must be a successful Deputy III level candidate; successfully pass the department promotional tests as outlined in county/department policy or have held the rank of sergeant or higher as a certified law enforcement officer with another agency.
