Summary:
Work directly with families providing individualized and interactive instruction utilizing the Systematic Training for Effective Parenting (STEP), Parents as Teachers, and/or the SafeCare evidence-based curriculum.
Instruction will take place in the client's home for the purpose of maintaining the family unit by reducing risk of abuse or neglect through assessment of strengths and needs, goal setting, intensive education, and guided application of skills.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required.
A minimum of two years of previous supervised work experience with young children and /or parents, ability to provide own transportation, ability to work at least one night a week as needed and some Saturdays, have a professional appearance, assist with agency fundraising events when needed, and successfully pass a criminal history background check.
Skills and Abilities Effective verbal, written and computer skills.
Must be reliable, self-motivated, self-sufficient, enthusiastic, and ability to work independently or as a team player.
Must have excellent decision making skills and a willingness to interact with families and professionals in the community.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, in addition to the capacity to establish rapport with families by empowering them to build on their strengths.
Knowledge of pregnancy and child development, familiarity with local community resources, ability to establish healthy professional boundaries, and experience practicing confidentiality according to HIPPA requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities ? Provide home-based parenting guidance to facilitate and support the parent-child relationship by increasing parent's knowledge of early childhood development and improve parenting practices.
Provide personalized visits focused on parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being including planning, delivering and documenting the visit.
? Listen to parental concerns and observations.
Teach problem solving skills to help families overcome obstacles.
? Respect family values by providing culturally competent services.
? Evaluate and conduct assessments according to benchmarks and standards to identify risks.
? Link parents and children to a medical provider to ensure optimal health and development, early detection of delays or other health issues.
? Provide information appropriate to available community resources.
Make referrals and track connections of referrals to plan, implement and track family progress.
? Develop, monitor and review goals with each family.
Review goals quarterly with Parents as Teachers supervisor.
? Support relationships between families, parent meetings and the community.
Provide group connections to give families an opportunity to build social connections with each other, engage in parent-child interaction activities and increase their knowledge of ways to support a child's development.
? Maintain appropriate and timely documentation of visits provided to assigned family and help facilitate quality management.
Maintain and submit all required family and program documentation in a timely manner.
? Understand the essential elements of the Parents as Teachers Program and implement the model in-home visits.
Use the Parents as Teachers (PAT) Foundational curriculum to share research-based information with families.
? Participate in monthly parent meetings as assigned.
Actively recruit family participation in program.
? Maintain professional boundaries with families, colleagues and community partners in accordance with the Parents as Teachers code of ethics.
? Participate in 2 hours of Reflective Supervision monthly and 2 hours of staff meetings monthly.
? Obtain competency-based professional development and renew Parent Educator certification annually.
? Participate in the professional and continuous training from partnering agencies.
? Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) projects using data collection and feedback to improve services.
? Participate in Prevent Child Abuse Utah annual events and fundraisers.
? Additional assignments and duties as requested.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
