Summary:

The CDL - Lead Delivery Driver/Dispatch 1 is responsible for the day-to-day operation of Logistics and transporting components and materials safely to specific locations during the absence of the Logistics Supervisor. A strong belief in the mission and goals of the company and the capability of working in a team environment are necessary for this position.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:

  • Ensures loads are ready, loaded and accounted for with next day's deliveries when supervisor is away.
  • Updates and maintains delivery schedule and communicates with the field superintendents.
  • Acts as Logistics Supervisor in his absence.
  • Consults with GM on all mechanical repairs for equipment.
  • Invoices all delivery tickets per SOP.
  • Scans all delivery tickets in at end of day.
  • Completes pre trip inspections for each load delivered and reports any safety or mechanical issues to supervisor.
  • Ensures proper load securing and straps are being used correctly to secure material for highway travel.
  • Ensures all traffic laws and DOT requirements are adhered to.
  • Ensures all components and materials documented on invoices delivered safely to jobsites.
  • Safely unloads/loads forklift and materials. Stages materials safety and securely to prevent damage or theft.
  • Ensures pictures are taken and uploaded of all delivered materials and all delivery documents returned to supervisor.
  • Follows all safety procedures.
  • Trains and communicates with unexperienced drivers
  • Problem solves and helps co-workers be successful
  • Complies with all company policies and procedures.
  • Boosts moral company-wide in the warehouse, job site, online and helps promote the company with customers.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the role.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to the quality improvement process and the philosophy of continuous improvement; identify and respond actively and with sensitivity to the needs of all customers; participates as a collaborator in all phases of the organization; and is open and responsive to change.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Knowledge of common building materials used in residential, multi-family and commercial construction.
  • Valid commercial driver's license and medical card
  • Maintains a clean MVR.
  • Diligent and takes pride in quality of work.
  • Demonstrates the ability to successfully train and communicate with inexperienced drivers.
  • Demonstrates the ability to problem solve and help co-workers be successful.
  • Efficient and able to complete assignments within a given deadline.
  • Strong verbal communication skills as well as use of smartphone to navigate Bistrack for photo uploading, texting, and emailing.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in driving commercial vehicles preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Teledyne piggyback style forklift, roll off trailer, straps, load security and delivery system.
  • 2 or more years working experience at Heibar or other building products delivery company equivalent

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
